Legoland
For almost all children a trip to Legoland is a day out that they will welcome.
Not only is one of the best amusement Parks in Scandinavia it is the home to the Internationally famous
Lego Toy at Billund on the Mainland part of Denmark called Jylland. The Park has a shop selling Lego.
The Old Town at Aarhus
In Aarhus in 1909, a large collection of about 75 traditional and typical style buildings and houses
to form one of if not the first open air Urban and cultural Museums. There are exhibitions of what life
was like in the 1800s, 1920s and 1970s. There are also special exhibitions looking at childrenøs toys,
cooking implements, posters and decorative arts and authentic shops where you may buy items such as
cakes etc similar to those in the 1800s.
Lejre Stone Age Camp
(The Land of Legends, Centre for Historical-Archaeological Research and Communication)
Lejre is approx 106 Acres ( 43 Hectares) archaeoligical open air museum and is about 40 Kilometers ( 25 miles) West of Copenhagen
It was created in 1964 with reconstructions of an iron age village, a viking market and a stone age camp plus an 18the century farmstead with workshops like a weavers shop, blacksmiths shop etc.
Design and Designers Tour - 'Scandimodern Design'
The Design and Designers Tours are truly unique and individual and are created to show some of the best
of Design and designers in the Copenhagen and surrounding region.
Names such as Henning Larsen, Jorn Utzon, Arne Jacobsen, Georg Jensen Poul Henningsen, Kaare Klint
examples of their work and their buildings. The Turning Torso in Malmo, Sweden by Santiago Calatrava,
The New Opera House by Henning Larsen. The Sidney Opera House by Jorn Utzon is not something we will see,
but there are several examples of his buildings in and around Copenhagen. Arne Jacobsen was influential with Danish design
both with buildings and chairs in particular. Georg Jensen is a famous name in the silver world. Kaare Klint with his father and son
were responsible for the massive Gruntvigs Kirke and he also designed the Danish car number plate.
Royal Copenhagen Porcelain, Holmegaard Glass and Danish furniture and furnishings , Danish Ceramics, Bang & Olufesen
and even Lego are all recogonized as being of high quality and International known
