Kronborg Slot, Helsingør  (& Strandvejen)

Kronborg Slot , apart from being 'Hamlet's' Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Helsingør is about 45 kilometers North of Copenhagen and about 25 kilometers North-East from Hillerød

It has a long history and whilst it was a residence for the Kings of Denmark it was always more a fortification rather

than a Royal Palace and in that light it is not as full of interesting items as are Frederiksborg or Rosensborg Slots.

Kronborg at Helsingør and the Castle tower over in The Swedish Town of Halsingborg guarding the entrance to the Øresund

and in which every ship passing was liable to pay a Toll or be feeling the power of the guns from both these fortifications.

Currently the last year or so and into the nest year or so there has been some major changes around Helsingør's Harbour area and to the Car Parking and Kronborg itself, therefore as a tour we must live with these construction issues and concentrate more on the inside.

The Tour of Kronborg (including travelling there and return) can take about to 4-5 hours.

There are 3 main sections.

1) The Inside of the Castle

2) inside the Chapel

3) The Dungeons

Note:  sometimes there is access to the rooftop Telegraph tower but this is currently closed for restauration

The Fee is 75 DKr. for an adult / 30 Kr. for children 6-17

The Banqueting/Dance Hall                                                                                                                                                                                                              Kronborg Slot, Helsingør
