Hans Christian Andersen was born in Odense in 1805. Odense is the third largest City in Denmarkand is on the second largest island in Denmark called Fyn which is halway between Sjælland the largest island where Copenhagen is, and the mainland part of Denmark, Jylland (or Jutland). Odense is about 2 hours West of Copenhagen in a car and means going over the Storebæltsbroen Toll bridge.
The main museum and birth home is located at Bangs Boder 29 and was originally opened in 1908 and highlights his life of the World reknown Fairy Tale writer.
There is also another smaller museum where he lived as a child not far away from the Cathedral ( St Knuds Domkirke, Klosterbakken 2, 5000 Odense C ) in Munkmøllestræde 3-5.
